Aili Johansen is from Mortensnes, which lies in the Varangerfjord, which is the easternmost fjord in Norway. Her boat “Mortensnesjenta” is 10.38 meters long. Aili has been a fisherman since 2019, and since 2021 she has had her own boat. The largest crab she has caught was 6 kg. She fishes for king crab and other fish that are in the fjord. The funniest part of being a fisherman is to get nets full of fish. Aili is concerned with a sustainable fishing industry, with attention to how important the smaller coastal fleet is for settlement and opportunities in the districts. When she is not fishing, she helps out on the family farm, which has sheep. In her spare time, she likes an active life style, be in the mountains and in nature. She also likes to relax with knitting and a good series between all the chores.
